What services does JWS Home Improvement provide?+

Drywall installation and finishing, interior painting, exterior painting, staining and refinishing, trim and custom shelving, custom interior walls, interior renovations, exterior renovations, and new-home finishing projects. Each has its own page with more detail.

How do I request an estimate?+

Use the estimate form on the Contact page or call +1 902-403-4641. Provide your name, contact details, the service required, your property location, and a short project description. We follow up to discuss scope and provide an estimate.

How is pricing worked out?+

Pricing reflects the specific project — scope, size, materials, and the condition of the surfaces involved. We provide an estimate after discussing the work rather than quoting fixed rates, because every job is different.

What areas do you serve?+

JWS Home Improvement serves 15 communities across Nova Scotia — Wolfville, Kentville, New Minas, Berwick, Windsor, Annapolis Royal, Greenwood, Kingston, Middleton, Lawrencetown, Bridgetown, Coldbrook, Centreville, Canning, and Aylesford. Each has its own page with more detail.

Are you available seven days a week?+

Yes. As stated by the owner, JWS Home Improvement is available seven days a week. Reach out to discuss scheduling for your project.

Do I need to move out during interior work?+

Usually no. We work room by room, contain dust, protect floors and furnishings, and use low-odour water-based finishes for most interiors. We sequence the work around your household to keep disruption minimal.

How should I prepare for painting or drywall work?+

Remove fragile items and wall hangings where possible, and clear the work area of small objects. We protect floors and furniture, handle surface preparation, and manage dust. For larger jobs we discuss preparation specific to your space before starting.

What level of drywall finish do I need?+

It depends on the room and lighting. Living areas and walls in raking daylight usually need a higher finish level, while utility spaces can often be finished to a practical level. We assess each space and recommend the right level.

Can you match an existing paint or stain colour?+

In most cases, yes. We test on the actual surface because colour reads differently across species and lighting. Bring a sample or colour name and we'll work from there.

When is the best time for exterior painting?+

Late spring through early fall offers the most reliable conditions, when temperatures stay within product ranges and rain is less likely. We watch the forecast and schedule around weather windows.

Do you repair drywall before painting?+

Yes. Minor drywall repairs, nail pops, and small cracks are addressed as part of preparation. If larger repairs are needed, we discuss them before painting so the surface is sound.

Can you build custom shelving for an awkward space?+

Yes. Custom built-ins are made to suit the specific wall, ceiling height, and use. We measure the space and discuss proportions, depth, and load so the shelving fits and functions.

How do you handle dust and cleanup?+

We contain the work area, protect floors and furnishings, and use dust-management practices during sanding. At the end of the job we clean up so the space is left tidy and ready to use.

How do I contact JWS Home Improvement?+

Call +1 902-403-4641 or email jwshomeimprovement26@gmail.com. You can also use the estimate form on the Contact page. We do not list a physical business address publicly at this time.

What information should I include in my estimate request?+

Your name, email and phone, the service you need, the property location, and a short description of the project. The more detail you provide, the more accurate the initial estimate can be.
