Custom Interior Walls
Feature walls and architectural details that give a room character.
Request an EstimateWhat the work involves.
A custom interior wall turns a plain surface into a feature. JWS Home Improvement builds wood-slat feature walls, board-and-batten, wainscoting, and panelled accents that add depth and character to a room. Each wall is designed to the space — its proportions, light, and the way the room is used.

Project considerations
Scale matters most with feature walls. A pattern that's too busy in a small room overwhelms; one that's too timid in a large room disappears. We discuss proportion, rhythm, and material so the wall reads as deliberate architecture, not decoration.
Preparation & planning
Feature walls need a flat, stable substrate and careful layout. We prepare the wall, plan the layout to land evenly at corners and edges, and address lighting and outlet placement so the finished wall is clean and functional.
Pricing: Every project is quoted individually based on its scope, size, materials, and condition. We don't use fixed rates — request an estimate and we'll provide a quote for your specific project.

Full FAQ pageWhat styles of feature wall do you build?+
Wood-slat walls, board-and-batten, wainscoting, shaker panelling, and framed accent panels are all options. We discuss the style that suits the room's proportions and the look you're after.
Can a feature wall include lighting?+
Yes. We can integrate lighting — such as LED strips behind slats or uplighting above panelling — and plan for outlets and switches so the wall is both a feature and functional.
Does a feature wall work in a small room?+
It can, with the right scale. In smaller rooms we lean toward simpler patterns and lighter finishes so the wall adds interest without closing the space in. We advise on what will read well at the room's size.
How is a feature wall finished?+
Depending on the material, we sand, paint, stain, or seal the wall so it's durable and the finish is even. Finishing is planned with the install so the result is one clean piece of work.
Can you match an existing feature wall style?+
Often, yes. If you have a reference or an existing wall to extend, we assess the pattern, spacing, and finish and replicate or adapt it to suit the new space.
