About This Service

What the work involves.

A fresh coat of interior paint is the fastest way to change how a home feels. JWS Home Improvement prepares surfaces properly, uses quality materials, and cuts clean lines so the finished result looks deliberate and even — not just covered. As a professional painter, Jake works neatly and respects the home you live in.

Project considerations

Sheen, colour, and the way light moves through a room all affect the finished look. We talk through how a colour will read at different times of day and recommend sheens that suit each surface — walls, trim, ceilings, and high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms.

Preparation & planning

Good paint starts before the brush touches the wall. We fill, sand, and prime as needed, caulk gaps, and protect floors, trim, and furnishings. Repairs to drywall are addressed first so the paint goes onto a sound surface.

Pricing: Every project is quoted individually based on its scope, size, materials, and condition. We don't use fixed rates — request an estimate and we'll provide a quote for your specific project.

Service FAQs

Questions about interior painting.

Five common questions about this service. For more, see the full FAQ page.

Full FAQ page
How do I choose the right sheen?+

Higher-traffic and moisture-prone areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and trim generally suit a more washable sheen, while ceilings and low-traffic walls read softer in a flatter finish. We recommend sheens room by room based on use and light.

Do I need to move out of my home while you paint?+

Usually not. We work room by room, contain the area, and use low-odour water-based finishes for most interiors. We can plan the sequence around your household so disruption stays minimal.

Will you repair drywall before painting?+

Yes — minor drywall repairs, nail pops, and small cracks are addressed as part of preparation. If larger repairs are needed, we discuss them before painting so the surface is sound.

How long until I can put things back on the walls?+

Water-based interior paint is dry to the touch within hours, but full cure takes longer. We advise waiting before hanging pictures or cleaning walls so the finish sets properly.

Can you match an existing colour?+

In most cases we can match or source a close equivalent. Bring a sample or the colour name and we work from there, testing on the wall so you can see it in your light before committing.
