Exterior Painting
Durable finishes that protect your home and sharpen its curb appeal.
Request an EstimateWhat the work involves.
Exterior paint is both protection and presentation. JWS Home Improvement prepares surfaces thoroughly and applies finishes suited to Nova Scotia's weather so the coating adheres properly and lasts. The result is a home that looks cared for and is better defended against moisture, sun, and seasonal change.

Project considerations
Exterior work depends heavily on weather. Temperature, humidity, and forecast rain all shape the schedule. We assess the substrate — siding, trim, doors, or fascia — and recommend products rated for the exposure and orientation of each surface.
Preparation & planning
Most exterior failures come from poor preparation, not poor paint. We clean, scrape, sand, repair, and prime as required, address any rot or failed caulk, and protect landscaping and surrounding areas before any finish goes on.
Pricing: Every project is quoted individually based on its scope, size, materials, and condition. We don't use fixed rates — request an estimate and we'll provide a quote for your specific project.

Questions about exterior painting.
Five common questions about this service. For more, see the full FAQ page.
Full FAQ pageWhat time of year is best for exterior painting?+
Late spring through early fall offers the most reliable conditions, when temperatures stay within the product's range and rain is less likely. We watch the forecast and schedule around weather windows so finishes cure correctly.
How long does exterior paint last?+
It depends on the surface, exposure, prep, and product. A well-prepared exterior with quality coating typically gives many years of service. We discuss realistic expectations for your specific surfaces and orientation.
Do you pressure-wash before painting?+
Cleaning is an important part of preparation. We use the appropriate method for each substrate — gentle washing where pressure could damage the surface — so paint adheres to a clean, sound base.
Can you paint in cooler weather?+
Some products are formulated for lower temperatures, but there are limits. We choose products suited to the conditions and avoid painting when overnight lows would prevent proper curing.
What if there's rotted trim?+
We flag any rot we find during preparation. Rotted trim should be repaired or replaced before painting so the new coating has a sound surface to bond to. We discuss options before proceeding.
